We've made the VAT changes, but the tax rate still shows incorrectly on the Paytrail report?

Please check the following aspects that may affect the successful processing and transmission of VAT information:

  • Decimal separator: It’s important to use a period as the decimal separator. If a comma is used as the decimal separator, this can cause errors when converting the data to JSON format, which may distort the VAT information (e.g., 25.5 could incorrectly convert to 25).
  • Number of decimal places: The decimal part of the VAT percentage should only have one digit (e.g., 25.5). Please ensure that VAT information is sent with one decimal place.
  • Format of the vatPercentage field: This field should be numeric and presented as a number, not a string (without quotation marks).

  • Platform version: If you are using a ready-made e-commerce platform (e.g., WooCommerce), please ensure that the latest version of the plugin is installed.

E-commerce platform specific information

Shopify

Shopify made updates to its system in June 2022, which resulted in online stores not sending VAT information to Paytrail’s API. However, changes have since been made in Shopify’s system, and importing VAT data is now possible (currently, the online store can only provide information for a single VAT rate for all products).

You can select the necessary VAT rate in your store’s settings, which Shopify will then send for reporting purposes. Unfortunately, this feature does not apply retroactively, such as for reports from June, so we recommend using Shopify’s own reports for that period, as they display product details and VAT information. We also recommend using Shopify’s reports if you sell products with multiple VAT rates.

MyCashflow
Due to technical reasons, the VAT rate of products is currently not transferred to Paytrail’s settlement reports for merchants using the MyCashflow e-commerce platform, and the order appears as a single line item on the report.

We recommend tracking your reports through MyCashflow. You can find more information about order archiving and accounting reports in the MyCashflow guide.

However, improvements are being planned to ensure that correct VAT rates will be reflected on Paytrail’s settlement reports in the future. This change requires significant updates to the API, and therefore, a precise timeline is not yet available.

If these points are in order but the issue persists, please contact our customer service, and we will be happy to assist you.
