New Paytrail: Updating the WooCommerce integration

Due to the acquisition of Checkout by Paytrail, we have released a new WooCommerce add-on.

If your online store uses the Checkout Finland for WooCommerce or OP Payment Service for WooCommerce add-on, you should replace it with the new Paytrail for Adobe Commerce add-on. Development of previous add-ons has been discontinued and will no longer be supported in the future.

The old add-ons operating under Checkout Finland's or OP's brand will still work for the time being, but the add-on must be changed so that the end customer's shopping experience is in line with the current Paytrail brand from start to finish.

Here's how to change to add-on to the new one:

  1. Install the new Paytrail for WooCommerce add-on to your store, which you can find through the online store's admin panel by selecting Add-ons -> Add new from the left side menu and typing "Paytrail for WooCommerce" in the top right corner search
  2. Configure the settings for the new add-on:
    • General settings can be found by selecting WooCommerce -> Settings -> Payments tab, select "Paytrail for WooCommerce" from the list Screenshot_2022-08-10_at_15.19.39.png
    • The settings that affect the appearance can be found in the menu on the left side Appearance -> Customize -> "Payment page personalization"

  3. In the online store's management panel, go to WooCommerce -> Payments and deselect "Enabled" for the old payment method, then the payment method will be hidden from the checkout, but refunds for previously received orders can still be processed normally through the online store's order management panel

Important things to note:

  • The add-on settings are not automatically transferred from the old add-on to the new one, but must be redefined during installation
  • The payment page settings should also be redefined, if they have been modified
  • If the new and old add-ons are active in the store at the same time, you will find two options with the same name in Wordpress's Customize function, one for the new and the other for the old add-on
  • The classes and functions and CSS classes related to the plugin have been renamed, so make sure any store-specific edits work after updating the plugin
  • It is possible to transfer saved card data to use the new add-on by selecting "Enable token update" from the add-on's settings. At the same time, the token used by WooCommerce Subscriptions is also updated, if that add-on is in use
  • If you remove the old add-on from the store, refunds to orders received before the switch of the add-on must be made through the Merchant panel.
