Due to changes in the Consumer Protection Act, (effective from 01.10.2023), payment methods must be presented on the payment page in an order where credit-based payment methods are listed last, and no payment method or payment group can be pre-selected. Please note that in Shopify online stores, due to platform limitations, the first bank in the list is pre-selected at checkout, and it is currently not possible to disable this pre-selection.
We automatically account for this change in our interface and on the Paytrail payment page. However, if the payment methods are displayed directly at your store’s checkout, please ensure that they are in the correct order.
If you are using a Shopify online store with the payment method selection page bypass enabled, you will need to change the order of the payment methods using the appropriate application.
Below are instructions using the ETP Sort Hide Payment Methods app as an example:
- Install the payment method sorting app: ETP Sort Hide Payment Method
- Activate the app.
- Click "Get started".
- On the next screen:
- Under “General settings”:
- From the “Status” field, select “Active”.
- On the “Customization Name” field, enter the desired name for the service. We recommend “Paytrail payment methods”.
- Under “Customization actions”, click “Add new action”.
- Select “Reorder a specific payment method”.
- From the “Select operator” field choose “which name contains”.
- From the “Enter value” field, type the name of the payment method.
- For the “Enter position” field the order in which you want the payment method to appear.
- Click “Add new action” to repeat the process until all payment methods have been added.

- Once added you will see “Paytrail payment methods” under Payment customizations.
Once all payment methods have been successfully added, the online store checkout should look like this:
