When paying via online bank, the payer is asked to authorize Paytrail to complete the payment process. Requesting authorization relates to the implementation of bank interfaces, which have been updated following the EU’s Payment Services Directive (PSD2).
Through authorization, Paytrail receives information about the payer’s account number and account currency. However, Paytrail does not have access to the payer’s account balance or transaction details. Authorization allows Paytrail to create the payment in the bank’s system, but the payment cannot be charged without explicit approval by you with your bank credentials.
